TL;DR (Quick Summary)
- Thinkific has two types of pages: AI-generated landing pages and Classic Website Pages. Third-party templates only work on Classic pages.
- You can switch from AI pages to Classic pages in Settings > Course Landing Pages -- but your existing page customizations will reset.
- Traffic without sales usually points to a design credibility gap, not a traffic problem.
- A converting course page needs a specific outcome headline, social proof visible early, and a layout that moves visitors toward buying.
- Brainy Girl's Thinkific landing page templates are branded for you and installed in your Thinkific site.
What is the difference between Thinkific AI landing pages and classic website pages?
Thinkific offers two types of course pages, and they work very differently.
If you have a relatively new Thinkific site, AI landing pages will be turned on in your settings by default. Then, AI landing pages are automatically generated when you create a new course. They're fast to set up, but they come with real limitations: no custom fonts, no custom footer code, and no support for third-party app integrations. The design options are constrained to what Thinkific's AI generates for you.
Classic website pages (also called Product Pages) are built on Thinkific's Site Builder. They give you full control over layout, design, and custom code. They support third-party apps and HTML. This is the page type that allows professionally designed templates to be installed.
If design credibility and brand consistency matter to you -- and they should, because buyers form an impression of your page before they read a single word of copy -- Classic pages are the better choice.
Can I switch from Thinkific AI pages to classic pages to use third-party templates?
Yes. In your Thinkific admin, go to Settings > Course Landing Pages. If your current setting shows "Landing Page," you can switch it to "Product Page" to use Classic pages.
One thing to know before you switch: your existing AI-generated page customizations will not carry over. If you have already built your landing page using the AI buiilder, you have to switch to Classic Product Pages then recreate the course. It not as hard as it sounds.
Create new course > skip the AI generated course > copy the settings, pricing, after purchase, drip schedule and curriculum from your original course. Now you'll have a classic product page which you can use Thinkific Landing Page Templates on.

Why does my Thinkific course page look generic or cheap?
Because Thinkific's default pages are designed to work for every type of course creator. Generic by design -- because neutral is the only thing that works across thousands of different schools and different offers.
The page your visitors land on is not communicating anything specific about you, your expertise, or the result you deliver. It looks like every other default Thinkific page they have seen. When a page looks like a template, it signals to buyers that you are new, uncertain, or not fully invested -- even if none of those things are true.
Professionally designed Thinkific Landing Page Templates solve this by replacing a generic page with one that reflects your brand, establishes credibility immediately, and guides the visitor's eye toward the enrollment button.
What sections does a Thinkific course sales page need to convert?
A course sales page that converts has many specific elements, but the big ones are:
A headline tied to a specific outcome -- not the course title, but the problem it solves.
A "who this is for" section that makes the right visitor feel seen immediately.
A what-you'll-learn section focused on results, not a content list.
An instructor bio that establishes credibility.
A curriculum overview.
Social proof from real students, placed early -- not buried at the bottom after the buy button.
A clear price with a strong enrollment CTA.
And an FAQ that addresses the most common objections before they become reasons to leave.
Thinkific's default pages include most of these fields. The problem is not the sections -- it is the order and the design. A professionally designed template sequences these sections the way a real buyer actually moves from curious to ready to purchase.
How do I improve conversions on a Thinkific course page?
Start with design credibility. Before a visitor reads your headline, they have already formed an impression of your page. If it looks like a default template, or like it hasn't been updated since 1982 -- there is nothing unique about you in their eyes. You've lost them before they even read the page.
After that, these are the highest-impact changes: your headline needs to name the specific problem you solve, not just the course title. Social proof belongs near the top, not at the bottom. Your CTA button needs language that connects to the outcome, not generic "Enroll Now." And every section that does not help a visitor move toward buying is slowing them down.
A professionally designed page handles most of this by default. The layout is built with conversion structure in mind from the start.
Can I add custom HTML or code to a Thinkific landing page?
Custom HTML and code are supported on Thinkific's Classic Website Pages (Product Pages). They are not supported on AI-generated landing pages.
This is the core reason that experts and businesses who want branded, professionally designed pages use Classic pages. Custom code support is what makes third-party templates possible. If you are currently on AI landing pages and want to use a template service, you will need to switch to Classic pages first.
Why is my Thinkific page getting traffic but no sales -- what makes a Thinkific landing page convert?
Traffic without sales almost always points to a credibility problem.
The page looks like a template. Visitors land, form a quick impression, and leave -- not because your course is not good, but because the page did not make them believe it was. You cannot outwrite a bad first impression with better copy.
A Thinkific page that converts has five things working together: a strong headline tied to a specific problem, a clear promise, design that signals you are a professional worth paying, real student social proof, and a layout that guides the eye toward the enrollment. Most default Thinkific course pages are missing at least three of those five. A professionally designed template closes that gap.
Can I use Thinkific landing page templates for a membership, cohort, or about page -- not just a course sales page?
Yes. Brainy Girl's landing page templates for Thinkific sites are available in multiple page types: home pages, course sales pages, cohort sales pages, membership sales pages, membership hub pages, about pages, contact pages, and lead magnet opt-in pages.
The Three Page Bundle lets you mix page types from any of the three collections. You could order a home page, a membership sales page, and an about page -- or any combination that covers what your school needs.
What is the difference between a Thinkific home page and a course sales page?
Your Thinkific home page is your school's front door. It introduces your brand, shows what you offer, showcases your courses and directs visitors to the right next step. It serves multiple audiences at once.
Your course sales page is focused on one specific course or program. Its only job is to convert a visitor into a buyer. It goes deeper on proof, outcomes, and objection handling.
Both need professional design and clear copy. But they serve different purposes and need to be structured differently. Most course creators need both -- which is why Brainy Girl's Three Page Bundle, covering home page, course sales page, and about page, covers the full school at once.
How is a done-for-you Thinkific template different from using Thinkific's built-in Site Builder?
Thinkific's Site Builder lets you drag and drop sections, swap colors, and edit text - very basic editing and customization. A done-for-you template is a fully pre-designed page with a deliberate layout, typographic hierarchy, and conversion structure -- then customized to your specific branding and installed for you.
The result looks like a real website, not a builder output. You also skip hours of trial and error, because the page is built by someone who has done this more than 1,000 times.
